OUR STORY
REZILIENCE was founded in 2015 by a group of 10 organizers in New Mexico. First as a platform for Indigenous artist, this organization aimed to fulfill the need for culturally specific programming, knowledge dissemination and resource development focused on indigenous peoples and communities. Starting in 2016, and under the name The REZILIENCE Indigenous Arts Experience and REZARTX, the organization produced three annual festivals at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in New Mexico. In total, these events worked with more than 30 partnering organizations and featuring over 80 artists from across Turtle Island. Having shifted their focus in 2019, the REZILIENCE Organization now produces spaces with more specific focuses of community-based programming but continues to have national engagement. This new path forward seeks to support Indigenous community members, allies, culture bearers, knowledge holders, advocates and entities in their pursuits to build capacity and attaining more knowledge to help there people thrive.
The REZILIENCE Organization qualifies as non-profit under the fiscal sponsor, New Mexico Community Capital in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 2018.
ABOUT REZILIENCE
In our past and still today, many stories, methods, technologies and beliefs continue to work against Indigenous peoples, breaking down our ways of life. BUT, there are also many stories, methods, technologies and beliefs that Indigenous people are practicing and utilizing today, some generations old and some new ways, that are working to build our people up and helping to maintain connection, understanding and self-reliance in the face of this adversity. These proactive methods and mentality are the fabric that binds our communities and will continue to promote cultural vitality, increase knowledge and engagement between our people and this world in positive and considerate ways. We acknowledge this truth and allow it to guide our work to support the collective creation and sharing of knowledge, tools and practices that encourage growth for our peoples, near and far. This is the REZILIENCE Organization.
