About Place Online Sesssions

The PLACE Online Sessions are an adaptation of an event plan for the 2020 PLACE Convergence. Having been scheduled to take place in September of 2020, the REZILENCE Organization has now pivoted to producing and delivering the event sessions through an online platform and meeting space. 

Standing for People, Land, Arts, Culture, and Ecology, P.L.A.C.E is a concept designed to discuss and share knowledge, processes, tools and ideas from Indigenous perspectives. Functioning as a communal learning space, these online sessions will celebrate the resiliency, ingenuity and value of our people. This space will have peers share lessons that reference their Indigenous heritage, experiences and knowledge systems, grounded in the five areas of P.L.A.C.E. Our priorities as an organization and session facilitators are to enrich the lives of all who attend, to promote communitship and reciprocity, and to be culturally responsive in our planning, organizing, and delivery of activities. In all, P.L.A.C.E works to enrich our understanding of ancestral heritage, help maintain and expand interconnectedness, and uplift our people, for many days to come. 

The PLACE program consists of various strategies that work to build with Indigenous peoples across the country. In 2019, the REZILENCE organization coordinated the PLACE Raising program to engage community members from various tribal nations to design and coordinate the inaugural PLACE Convergence event in September 2020. With the cancelation of the 2020 PLACE Convergence due to the onset of COVID 19, REZILENCE we have shifted to delivering the collaborative workshops through an online portal. The PLACE Online Sessions will work toward the same goals that the Convergence event was aimed. Two sessions per month, beginning in June will be produced in collaboration with various knowledge keepers, leaders, artisans, and others to share their skills, tools, techniques and knowledge about various topics under the five tracks under P.L.A.C.E.
